How to stop Suno from singing your prompt
First decide which problem you actually have: you wanted a completely instrumental track, or you wanted vocals but Suno started performing text that was meant as direction. The fix is different.
Quick answer
If you want no vocals at all, start with Instrumental.
Suno's current Custom workflow explicitly provides an Instrumental toggle when you prefer not using lyrics. Put the musical brief in Styles. If the problem is a specific unwanted element rather than all vocals, use Advanced Options → Exclude as another control.
Problem A
I wanted an instrumental.
Do not make the Lyrics field carry the whole burden. Use the product's instrumental control first, then describe the sound you want.
Turn on Instrumental in Custom mode when you want no lyrics or lead vocal at all.
Put the musical identity in Styles: genre, mood, instruments, arrangement, and production texture.
Use Advanced Options → Exclude for specific elements you do not want in the track.
Do not fill the Lyrics field with repeated 'no vocals / no singing' sentences and expect them to stay silent.

Move genre, instrumentation, and mix-language detail into Styles when those lines keep being interpreted as lyrics.
If you need contextual Lyrics-box prompting, add only the context that is helping; Suno supports richer Lyrics prompts, but generations are still probabilistic.
Reuse or regenerate from a cleaner version instead of adding more warnings to an already-conflicted prompt.

So the rule is not “never put instructions there.” The useful rule is: if the model keeps singing text you intended as control language, simplify it, make the actual lyrics clearer, and move musical detail to Styles or Exclude.
That preserves the richer prompting options without pretending every bracketed cue or instruction is deterministic.
